Ayem greetings from crisp, sunny and Happy Larryville, plus a pleasant Birfday III to our own K8-E!
Who put a Monday in my birthday week?
[kneejerk]
Probably the danged gummint.
[/kneejerk]
BTW, I read last night the federal gummint – at least in D.C. – is closed today, presumably due to “Winter KillStorm ‘10″.
I have mixed feelings about that. Sure, they’ll have one fewer day to do damage and chip away at liberty. OTOH, we still have to overpay the leeches for not working. (Which, come to think of it, isn’t so different than most working days for ‘em.)
I expect they’ll be getting Presidents’ Day off on our dime, too.
Meh.
Hope ya’ll (sic) have a swell day!

Count me in the group who figures if they’re not there, they’re doing less damage.
‘Morning EveryGerbillyBody!
Happy Birfday III, Kaaaaaate-y!!!
I’m very happy the Saints won last night. Good for them. Mardi Gras ought to be extra special this year. If they’re not too hungover…
Geez, you know, I saw the Tebow ad and I’m at a total loss as to what exactly was offensive about it. Really not getting the outrage.
::shrug::
Do we need to go dig Jerrie out?
Entirely possible. He may, in fact, be without power…
Coffee anyone?

Really not getting the outrage.
Me either; I was rather surprised at how non-controversial it seemed to me.
Saw last night that some idiot woman was trying to spin it such that Tim “tackling” his Mom somehow indicated a lack of sensitivity to “domestic violence”.
Crikey.
He may, in fact, be without power…
Sure hope not; having no power during a blizzard is teh suck.

Coffee? Why yes, thank you, I will have a cuppa.
Fatwa – I just want to let you know that I have today off – and I get President’s Day off, too. We get them as Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdays – although neither one is actually on their birthday. I think it’s kind of like new math. I also get paid, but I don’t think I’m getting overpaid. After a few years in this gig I’m only making $10k more than I did in 1993. The administrators at my school, however, get paid over twice what I do. Some were only in the classroom as long as I’ve been before jumping to administration.

Good morning,
The Saints-bummer. Peyton Manning and the Colts will forever have that can’t-win-the-big-one sign around their necks.
On a brighter sports’ note, the Kings-LA’s other hockey club-have won a team record nine in a row. And Randy Couture won another bout at age 46 in UFC 109.
The Tebow ad outrage, X, is all about the forum, the arena. In America, you’re allowed to have your pro-life views, or your pro-gun views, or your Christian views, etc., just so long as you keep them to yourself or in the truck stop in Kansas or in your church in Texas. I walked out of the super bowl viewing before Carrie Underwood finished her song. I walked back through the room & heard about 2 seconds of the Who. Actaully, I read a Drudge headline at 8:00 that said Colts over ‘aints. I didn’t know it was any different til this morning. BW was just going to watch the beginning & ended up enjoying the whole thing. Ha!

I saw a couple of the commercials on the news this morning & looked at a few online. Meh, for the most part.
I did like the Betty White one.
BW said most of them seemed lame.

This morning we took BW’s car to the shop. We had to dodge a news satellite truck blocking the entrance. I told BW that the Toyota guys would probably be happy to see a regular problem & not a person screaming about gas pedals. LOL

I liked the McDonald’s remake of the “nothing but net”, which I thought they had fun with the first time. I couldn’t remember who the other player was from that one though. Michael Jordan?
Slug Bug was pretty funny too.

That’s very true.

Oh. One other observation on the Super Bowl, did anyone else think Carrie Underwood had altered one of Elvis’ old jumpsuits?

I watched Sarah Palin’s speech the other night to the tea party folks. She made a few gaffes, like saying “Alaska” when she clearly meant to say “America,” but overall she did a good job. She gave an honest presentation; light on specifics, heavy on sarcasm, and jabbed the hell out of Obama. Great opening line: “A special hello to the CSPAN watchers; you might not be welcome at the health care negotiations but you have an invitation to the tea party.”
Of course, there’s things she could have done better, but still a breath of fresh air especially when compared to the daily droning of President Swivel.

Hey Rabbit-I missed most of the commercials, and the ones I saw seemed, well, dull. I didnt get most of them, and the products advertised werent ones I use anyhow. Seems like I saw one movie coming up that I thought looked good but I dont remember what it was.
I did make a good artichoke dip that got eaten up.

Sven, BW did say that a Denny’s one about chickens was funny. I heard someone else say that on the radio today.
And no, I’m not watching leaf flute videos. BW emailed me to look it up. Brenda has her Fatwa, I have my BW.

There were a few good commercials, although some didn’t seem to have any tie-in to their product. Most were a waste of $3M. Especially the Census ad.

Awww, that made me feel all warm and fuzzy. I love that!!
Happy Birthday, Cousin Kate!! I see you’re still bringing on teh big storms.
My condolences to you and your folks on your loss. How is your dad these days? You haven’t said much for a while…maybe working too much? yes, you! working too much!
Good day, Gerbils. I didn’t see the Tebow ad but I’ve heard about it. I think it’s nice that he tackled his mom….sounds like home. My big brothers used to try to tackle my mum but it was like living with Mother Miyagi. A very tiny, dainty, ladylike mum that could throw any of us at any time. That woman’s judo was fierce! Good times…
Nice memory. I’ll have to phone her today.
I’m glad to see that Sven hasn’t slipped down the hill! We’re planning to go out to eat later specifically to celebrate Washington being frozen out of action today.
How is Miss Em’s hellcoldflu? Anyone know? And how ’bout our Gentle Mac? I’m sure I heard him softly groaning in the background the other night. And coughing!
Report you guys!
Beautiful picture today, TeX. Thank you. And hello to the rest of you fine furry gerbs. BrendaK, thanks for keeping my manners today. Fatwa, PaddyO’dearie, nice to see you, Sirs.
Wow, this was a long comment! I’m done workin’ today…

No wonder you learned to walk on the ceiling! Rambo Mum, plus she can shoot and hustle pool. I think I love this Lady. That is what I think of when I talk of a strong or tough lady, real strength of character. I can’t help but think of her stepping in to help some of these dysfunctional families (wielding Paddy’s light ax, the weapon of Jedi Vikings).

Cousin: well, too much to enjoy the MO with you and Mac.
My father is fine – very busy taking care of my mother. Walking takes serious effort on her part (which she does not mention) even with her high tech walker (complete with cupholder!) They left this morning, heading into another storm system and expecting to get snowed in halfway home. My father quipped he had never been snowed out before.

I’m so glad Kate is okay.
My hellcold is mostly gone. It was made worse by a nasty fall in the bathroom. Smacked my head and bounced a bit. Nasty bruises and a lovely black eye. I’ve always been a klutz.
