My sentiments precisely. Although I’d settle for a very small nuke (and drawing straws to see who gets the pleasure of lighting it off).

Yay!

Here in Gwinnett County, the Elections Office has issued applications to recall three of the commissioners. Alas, our District’s moron is not among them – although he should be, since he was one of the four who voted last week to jack-up our property taxes 21%.

Part of our enormous indebtedness is a $60M stadium for an Atlanta Braves farm team (which was originally supposed to cost “only” $40M).

This boondoggle was expected to bring in, among other things, about $200K last year in “parking taxes”; we got slightly more than $9K. And they figured they’d get a few hundred thousand per year from the “naming rights”, which nobody would touch with a ten-foot pole when they were put up for bid in last fall’s tanking economy.

I told BetterHalfK that if we win the MegaMillions tonight, I’d submit a low-ball bid to name the place “Crooked County Commissioner’s Stadium”. She suggested that might not fly (which I find hard to believe, given how the wretched bastards are groveling for money to pay for their spending spree).

Perhaps they’d find “Ben Dover Gwinnett Stadium” more palatable.

;)

Heya, Paddy –

I used up all my mortars. Can I use some of my old land-based tactical nuclear missiles, instead? That shouldn’t be a problem, really. I mean, the land isn’t currently being used for anything worthwhile, after all. It’s not like a potential fall out scenario would cause any real harm.

Good Morning EveryGerbillyBody, from the well-it’s-supposed-to-rain-at-some-point SE Texas prairie!

Heh.
While my buddy Bob and I really don’t agree on a whole helluva lot politically (I keep muttering, “Thanks 52″ and he keeps saying “You’re welcome!”), he’s developed some pretty good rules of thumb through bitter experience when it comes to sites like Facebook and the attendant risks of reuniting with friends from the distant past:

If you see their number on the Caller ID do you answer or let it go to voicemail?

When applied to the person I was considering sending a message – as I was steeped in twenty-year old flashbacks and listening to Pink Floyd? “Oh hell no, I’d run and hide!” “There’s your answer then.”
Thanks, Bob!

That’d be some expensive barren wasteland, even given current Manhattan real estate prices.

And probably wouldn’t dent the hypocisy / corruption index very much; there’s still D.C.

Giuliani ought to have tried using eminent domain to seize Turtle Bay when he was riding high in the aftermath of 9/11.

An awful lot of our fellow citizens would have applauded even a failed attempt.

“Filtered cigars”…hee! I noticed in the sidebar they also sell “blunt wraps”. I lurve all of the euphemisms pertaining to certain “smoking supplies”, like having to refer to “bongs” as “water pipes”.

I really hope to live long enough to see our moronic, unconstitutional and liberty-curtailing War on Drugs ended in this country. If the voters in CA decide to legalize pot next year, I will greatly enjoy the ensuing legal battle with the Feds.

(Sadly, the WoD is supported by many people who self-identify as both “conservative” and “liberal”.)

If the contortions of the LA City Council are anything to go by, should be a riot.

Well, if we limit it to 1000′ from any residence we eliminate ALL the Medical Marijuana sellers, but if we cut that to 500′ there’s too many to count!
    Whatever will we do?!?!

And then Anthony VillaReconquista flies off to Copenhagen, where he’s obviously in demand.

So this means we’re going to be visited soon by said Fairy, yes? ‘Cuz she promised and I know I’m not the only one who misses her:

Look for me with the coming of the winter weather. Cozy fires and stories will be had. Clean shavings with the last of the summer’s lavender mixed in. Hot drinks and warm friends….I’ll expect you all to stop in to tell me all your news. It’s a date?

Sometime after the snows begin to fall.

I wanna Plague Fairy!!!!!!!
